This looks like John Gilchrist. with parents and siblings 1881 census.

Address, Sheddings, Denny, Stirling,

Alexander Gilchrist, Head, Coal Miner, M. age 28 years, M. born Bothkennar, Stirling,
Mary Gilchrist, Wife, M. age 26 years, F. born Denny, Stirling,
John Gilchrist, Son, age 3 years, M. born Denny, Stirling,
Robert F. Gilchrist, Son, age 2 years, M. born Denny, Stirling,
Elizabeth S. Gilchrist, Daur, age 1 month, F. born Denny, Stirling.

Its no coincedence this family and later John Gilchrist, named some of their children with middle names of the female parents maiden name, ie.

Alexander Gilchrist, married Mary Fleming, 1876. Haggs, Stirling, thats them above.

Robert F. Gilchrist, aged 2 years, born Robert Fleming Gilchrist.
Elizabeth S. Gilchrist, aged 1 month, born Elizabeth Stirling Gilchrist, after father Alexander's, mother Helen Stirling.

I also think the Mary Gilchrist, you mention born 1909, was actually born Mary Fleming Gilchrist, in Haggs, Stirling. after John Gilchrist's, mother Mary Fleming.

Then later Robert Paterson Gilchrist, born 1921. Haggs, Stirling, middle name after his mother.

However you need the certificates from Scotlandspeople, to prove it.
