Worth just checking that man's service record.  He gives his date of birth as 7 June 1885 on his attestation papers.  He is married to Elizabeth and living when he joined up in 1915 in Winnipeg.
The record has details of "Sarah Mackintosh Clark, Gordons Mills, Poyntsfield by Invergordon is orphans' child's grandmother" and notes that a child of a first wife is receiving gratuity of 2 months. Mother is Mrs Sarah Clark of Gordon Mills.
So certainly seem the right man but the June 1885 date has come from him.

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe
