Just checked the Scottish National War Memorial register and the one you quote above - 12360 - was born in Auchinleck, Ayrshire.

Good Luck with your further research.

Did he perhaps have a brother also called Donald?

I am Zoe Northeast, granddaughter of Maximilian Double.

It is with great difficulty I share with you that in the early hours of 07 August 2021, Maximilian passed away unexpectedly but peacefully.

With deep sadness,
Zoe

Updating this thread, as I have finally found the info I've been searching for after two years;  Hoping it may save someone else a lot of time in the future.  The "Sgt W. Clark" who is recorded on the Resolis Memorial for WW1 is;

William Clark (Corporal)
Service No: 153574
Canadian Infantry (Manitoba Regiment)
43rd Bn.

Previously reported missing, but confirmed KIA 08/10/1916
Age: 35
Cemetery:  Vimy Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

He was born June 1881 in Daviot & Dunlichity, Inverness-shire.  Parents Donald Clark & Sarah (nee McIntosh), who at the time of the War were living at Gordons Mills, Resolis - hence William being on the Resolis Monument.

He went to Canada in 1910, and must have enlisted from there.

Link to details on the Canadian Virtual War Memorial Site, altho worth noting the d.o.b. they have for him on there is incorrect as June 7 1885 - shall try and send them the correct details in the hope they can correct it at some point.

Thanks for previous help guys.
