William Faries and Catharin Smith

Hi!
    Can anyone help with the following?

I have a William Faries marrying Catharin Smith on 29th December 1722 at Dumfries, Dumfriesshire.
According to familysearch.org the record states that Catharins father was a Robert Smith.

William Faries surname was spelt in many different ways - Farish, Fairish, Fairiss, Fairies etc.

William Fairiss is down as having a son baptised at Dumfries, Dumfriesshire on 28th September 1729, called James Fairiss.

If anyone can help with parents of William or any other children of the marriage, or any information on Catharin Smith I would be very grateful!
