HUGHES and TOWEL of Kilmore, Armagh

You could well be right, aghadowey - I see a John Toal aged 70 on the 1901 census, in Crossmore, Armagh, living with his son, Edward (also a family name!). Google tells me that Crossmore is about 14 miles from Kilmore (Richill) parish, where my Hughes ancestors are definitely from, and where the Hughes-Jowel baptisms are recorded.  I will amend this title of this post to reflect the possibility of the name!  Thank you

Thanks Sinann - I was able to check your finding (I got that £1 offer for a month to findmypast this afternoon!) of John Towel in Kilmore, Armagh - I meant to amend the title to reflect both possible spellings (as aghadowey suggested, it could be Toal also) - will do so now!  I think this John Towel could be Eliza's father - more digging required!

She was pointing out how the letter T is written by the priest, as in Toal.

My Opps as well, she did say it,

I read the name as Toal on the link Sinann posted.

but than said

I think it's Towel- see John Toal on the page opposite.

Anyway I think it's Towel.
