Jones' of Mold
« on: Wednesday 16 March 16 22:04 GMT (UK) »
Hi, I don't believe I've posted about these ancestors before specifically...I have just passed my driving test and am hoping to visit Mold in Flintshire later on in the year, when I'm there I'd hoped to see if any of the following ancestors graves could be found so I thought I'd see if anyone can help at all please.

My direct ancestors where Miriam Jones born around 1845 and her parents John Jones and Ellen Jones. I have the following info on them from Census'

1841 Census
High Street, Mold
John Jones   45 b Mold Sadler
Ellen Jones   45 b Mold
James Jones 20 b Mold
Martha Jones 20 b Mold
Thomas Jones 15 b Mold Painters Ast
Ellen Jones 11 b Mold
Nothord Jones 2 days b Mold
Hannah Jones 7 b Mold

1851 Census
New Street, Mold
John Jones   Head 53 b Flintshire, Mold Master Saddler
Ellen Jones wife 51 b St Martin’s, Shropshire
Martha Jones 28 daughter  b Flintshire, Mold General Servant
Ellen Jones   daughter 18 b Flintshire, Mold Dress maker
Luther Jones 10 years son Scholar
Miriam Jones daughter 6 b Flintshire, Mold  Scholar

I already know that Miriam married William Whittaker and is buried in Oldham but I don't have any further information on her parents or the rest of the family.

Can anyone help - ideally I'm hoping to locate John & Ellen's grave.

Many thanks, Luke

Have you looked for deaths for John & Ellen on freebmd?  The Welsh 1861 is missing so if they don't appear in 1871 they could have died anytime between 1851-1871

Holywell was the RD for Mold at that time but there are a huge number of John Jones deaths between those dates but less entries for Ellen Jones - possibility in 1870 aged 69

Have you used freebmd to look for marriages etc for the children or searched for at least the males on the 1871 /1881 censuses

There is an entry in the 1861 census for an Ellin Jones, born in St Martins and she was a saddlers widow.  2 children at home, William an ostlers clerk born Mold and Ellin, a nurse and born Mold.  They were living in Holywell.  There is a possible birth for William in 1818 in Mold, parents John and Ellinor.  Possible baptism for Ellen in 1832 (birth 26 April 1832) parents John and Elen.
