With difficulty I'm afraid  The 1851 shows Susan was b Whitstable so James could have been born anywhere in Kent.  If you can sight the marriage entry - you may be lucky if either of the witnesses were Brunger

Daughter Olive's birth was registered as Bronger - just like James's death.

1841 has an 8mth old son Henry who I think was a twin of Esther.  I can't find a death for Esther before 1841 or a death for Henry before 1851.  Henry is not with Susan or anywhere else in 1851

Alfred aged 15 is a servant shown as aged 65 and indexed as Brnerger although an amendment has been made to his surname

Hello Carol. Many thanks for your help and ideas. I've come across many miss spellings of names probably due to hard of hearing or bad pronunciation.

When you say sight the marriage entry I presume you mean go to the church and ask for the records? Assume if witnessed by Brunger then these may be his parents.

Other witness is Edw(ard) K Smith - he witnesses a lot of weddings in that church  ;)
Probably a church warden or similar

James signature is Bronger

As neither witness was surname Brunger or Bronger you are back to square 1

The 1841 has an Ester Howland in Doddington but as she is only 15 she was too young to have witnessed an 1832 wedding

However - she was the daughter of John & Esther Howland as per Family Search and there is this marriage which will interest you.  (Suspect it should be John Broadbridge Howland)

In 1851 she is mistranscribed as Newland b 1798 Ruckinge

The link to James Brunger is tenuous as it is based on the assumption that she is his sister because she was a witness at the 1832 marriage.  She may have been another Brunger relative

Hello Carol, in order to help me with my searches, how did you discover the mistranscribed entry for 1851? Newland is a long way from Howland or did you use wildcards like *land??
