William Furlong married an Anastasia Hayes
« on: Saturday 19 March 16 19:36 GMT (UK) »
I am trying to trace my mothers family who were Furlongs from Wexford.

William Furlong married an Anastasia Hayes approx births estimated between 1768 and 1825.

Their son James Furlong estimated birth in Wexford of 1833 married Catherine Martin daughter of Thomas and Mary Martin. They immigrated to the West Coast of New Zealand.

My mother spoke of a Furlong Flour Mill and of having seen one of the Flour Bags printed with Furlong on it.

I have tried many avenues in my search with little joy and am hoping someone over your way may be able to help.

Regards

Nicki

Welcome To Rootschat,

There is a James William Furlong b:1833 Wexford d:1910 NSW, who married Anastasia Doyle b: 1833 Wexford d: 1871, married in 1857 in Wexford.

When did he travel south, do you know?

I can't see anything about Furlong's flour mill in Wexford but there was a Furlong family involved in Flour mills in Cork.
