Sennett/Synnott/Sinnott Family from Tipperry.
« on: Saturday 19 March 16 20:13 GMT (UK) »
Trying to find more information on my husbands paternal Sennett side that we know came to the US from Tipperary in about 1850-1854.  William Sennett immigrated when he was about 10 to 12 years old to New York or possibly Canada before settling in North East, PA. His moth Nora Sennett came to, but no father came so we know he either died on a ship or before they came.  Is the town of Kilsheelan near Tippeary?  There were also two sisters that came to the USA too - Margaret and Catherine.  William Sennett named his firstborn son Richard, so thought there might be a Richard that married Nora or Honora in the Tipperary area.  There may have been 2 other children that they had, a Helen or John but no US record of them that I can find.  Any help appreciated!  Irish Lynn

Kilsheelan is a townland, also the name of a civil parish in County Tipperary, on the border with County Waterford,
And there was people of one variation of the name in the area

Do you know the religious denomination of the family?

They would be Cathoiics.  Any marriages of Richard Sennett or Sinnett to Nora ?   I would say years of 1830 to 1835?  Somewhere in Tipperary.

Thanks!Irish Lynn

Oh My, this may be the family!  There was a sister Catherine that came over listed in the family tree.  Another sister Margaret are too and may have been named after her aunt Margaret Gorman.

Is there any way to fine information on a feather e,certificate for Richard Synnott?  I think this at be the family .  We think he died in Ireland before they came over.  Probably 183 to 1854.

If this is the family, is there a way to find the marriage certificate for Honora and Richard?  Probably in the same town. 1835 to 1838 timeframe?  So excited - thank you!!

I see Kilsheelan is listed in county Waterford for one child and County Tipperary for another.  Is there a difference?

I think there may also have been a Helen or Ellen Synnott born to Richard and Honora.  Do you see any by that name?  Many Thanks!  Irish Lynn

I gave you the link so you could have a look yourself, and as I said Kilsheelan is on the Waterford/Tipperary border.
