Burials St Mary Stilton - WOOD, C 1876 & A 1873
« on: Sunday 20 March 16 00:11 GMT (UK) »
Hi at Huntingdonshire board
I have a mystery I'm hoping to clear up (don't we all?)
Is it possible to obtain more information on a BURIAL than what I can see on Huntingdonshire Burials Transcription...?

See below:

My main enquiry relates to the Burial of:
WOOD, Ann surname at time of Marriage was TEBBUT
................................
First name(s)    ANN
Last name    WOOD
Birth year    1797
Death year    1873
Burial year    1873
Burial day    30
Burial month    Jul
Age    76
Church    St Mary
Place    STILTON
County    Huntingdonshire
Country    England
Record set    Huntingdonshire Burials
Category    Life Events (BDMs)
Subcategory    Deaths & burials
Collections from    United Kingdom
.......................................................

I really would like to be able to find her MAIDEN NAME. and anything else that can prove I am researching the correct Ann WOOD.

The Ann WOOD I am researching was Ann TEBBUT(T) (Born Yaxley), when she married Charles WOOD 19 January 1819 Parish of St John Baptist, Peterborough, Northampton.

Their known children were Mary Ann b. c1820, Harriet b. c1822, Elizabeth b. c1823, Thomas b. c1829, Jane born c.1834 d. ??

I also have a transcription for BURIAL of WOOD, Charles 1876 also St Mary's, Stilton.

Hope someone might be able to help.  Fingers crossed.  :)

You will not find her maiden name on a burial record or on her death cert

If Charles or one of her children registered her death - then their name will be shown on the death cert but that is not guaranteed

It may have her address which could match up to the 1871 entry

Hi

Think this could be the probate record for Charles Wood

Charles Wood:  dated 2 June 1876, The Will of Charles Wood late of Stilton in the County of Huntingdon a yeoman who died 4 Feb. 1876, was proved at Peterborough by Thomas Wood of Denton county of Huntingdon, farmer the son one of the executors.
Effects under £100.

Many thanks to everyone for the replies and input.
It all adds to the overall picture.
There is a photo on an ancestry site showing headstones in the church yard of St Mary's,  Stilton.
I wonder if it could be possible to locate transcriptions of the headstones...?
Barb

ADDING TO THE ABOVE - is there anyone who lives locally who can tell me if there is any chance that any inscription carved on the said headstones might be legible.....?
Thanks again
Barb

Thanks bedfordshire boy.....
I have already sent them an enquiry - though I sent it to the "members interests" address directed to the lady who specializes in Burials etc.
Thought the bookstall address might not be the right one, but having had no reply so far I will re-send addressing it to  them.
Fingers crossed.
