Hi

Just wondering if some one could help with a search on Roots Ireland (not sure if this is allowed or not). I currently don't have a subscription.

I have looked through Catholic Parish registers between 1860 & 1865 but can't find her baptism. I have also looked at http://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie but that doesn't provide parents names that I can see.

Katherine Maria O'Mara (or Mara'). First name could also be Catherine. Father was Martin. She had a brother named Michael. They both arrived in Brisbane QLD in 1882 - she was aged 18.

According to her obituary, Katherine was in born at Fishmoyne, in the parish of Borrisoleigh around 1864.

According to Irish Ancestors (The Irish Times) Fishmoyne is covered by the neighboring parish of Drom and Inch.

It's not Catherine or Michael but ther is a Johanna Born to Martin Mara and Johanna Boyle Fishmoyne 1865

Thank you every one for replying: I will take a look at the baptism links you provided to see if I can find anything that might match.

And yes, I am sure that they were Catholic.

From Katherine's obituary it lists that she had 17 brothers and 3 sisters and that her father was the 'manager for Colonel Carden in the same locality".
