Could it be Udol?  There are some Andersons from there, including a few ministers.

This has a reference to an "Alexander Anderson of Udale" in 1788 which would probably fit the date of the pic

I wanted to say thank you for all the replies re my enquiry as to place name on old photo.
It has turned out to be UDALE/UDOLL various spellings in Cromarty with a lot of information arising from the revelation including a much looked for link to the family line.
ROOTSCHAT is a great boon  to people doing research, especially research far from home  :)
