Winfred May MOSELEY born 1893 gone missing
« on: Tuesday 22 March 16 14:08 GMT (UK) »
Am I missing something obvious in my searches for Winifred May?

There is a birth Dec Q 1893 Newport Pagnell registration district of a Winfred May MOSELEY. I think she is the daughter of John and Elizabeth Moseley and a sister of my grandfather George Moseley.

1901 Census 12 Caldecotte Street Newport Pagnell - RG13 1362 folio 68 page 16 shows
John Moseley (1851) and wife Elizabeth (1851) with children Charlie (1874), Lizzie (1883), Frank (1886), Florence (1888), Fred (1891) and a daughter born 1894 who FindMyPast transcribe as Minnie.

Looking at the image I think Minnie could be Winnie - the first letter isn't distinct - but I can't find her in 1911 or an obvious marriage or death for her.

1911 Census the family are still at 12 Caldecotte Street - married 38 years 10 children, eight alive two have died - children Charles, Frank and Florence and nephew Percy but no Winifred.

John and Elizabeth marry Northampton RD Mar Q 1873, Charles' birth registered Dec Q 1873 Northampton RD, George 1875 Northampton RD,

By the 1881 census they have moved to Newport Pagnell and are at 12 Caldecotte Street with Charles, George, Fred (1878) and James (1880).

1891 they are at 12 Caldecotte Street with Charles, James, Lizzie, Frank, Florence, a new Fred less than a year old and a newphew Samuel.

Fred (1878) appears to have died Newport Pagnell reg district June Q 1889 age 11.

So by 1911 we only have nine known children and one known death:
Charlie (probably dies 1954)
George (dies 1962)
Fred number one
James (married)
Lizzie
Frank (dies 1973)
Florence
Fred number two
Winnie/Minnie

James seems to have married between 1901 and 1911 and is at 11 Wolverton Road, Newport Pagnell in 1911 with a wife Emily.

I can't locate Fred number two in 1911 so far, nor an obvious death for him likewise Lizzie.

So is the missing child of the ten one who dies between censuses and so not in my nine and accounts for the second child death or is it Winfred May who isn't showing up in my searches of 1911 on FindMyPast as MOSELEY or as a marriage or death of Winfred May MOSELEY on FreeBMD?

If anyone can see anything that I'm overlooking in my search for Winfred May MOSELEY I'd be grateful.

Winifred is showing up in the 1911 census on Findmypast... you need to search for her birth year +-2 because she's fibbed a bit about her age!

Full name and spelt correctly.  Her birthyear is 1893 and birthplace is Newport Pagnell on Ancestry

Suspect you are looking for Winfred when it should be Winifred

Thanks everyone - "Winfred" was my typo whilst posting this on rootschat, I was using Winfred whilst searching for her and thanks to your comments having tried again have found her. FindMyPast have her pob transcribed as Newport Pagwell.

She's at Tormead, Dene Road in Ruislip as a between maid, one of a number of staff in residence when the 1911 census was taken. This is a substantial property of 19 rooms and it looks like it has now been converted into a number of flats.

Now I need to see if I can work out what happens to her after 1911.

Thanks again.

There's a death in 1968 in Bedford which may be her. I've not found her in the 1939 register though.

Thanks, that makes sense if she never married and subsequently went to live with her sister Florence, Mrs Wilson, in Bedford.
