WOW Willsy you have been busy  :-*

I will get at all this and see what I can make of this...how to connect all these players as I am sure they connect at some point!!!   Maybe the 'Sibson's (Joseph and Elizabeth) at Sarah & Samuel's Wedding were just neighbours and friends and so no connection .... ???

Frederick Allen and Mary King looks very interesting...
Especially 'if' as you think that Mary's parents might have been from Earl Shilton...

Frederick is shoe maker not riveter but perhaps 'if' he is found on the 1871 census ..
We know Mary Allen had daughter Sarah Ann Allen 1870 range and daughterAda 1878 range ... on the 1881 census she says she is married, on the 1891 widow....

I know we can't give lookups for the 1911 but I can't find them in this census and wondered if you could give a clue - are any of the children with them? Has the s/name been mistranscribed? Or can I just not see for looking?
Hi Annie
On the 1911 census YES the Jarvis family is  mistranscribed as JAROIS, Sarah and hubby Samuel and 7 children can be found living at 14 St. Leonard, Leicester

There is a family 1851 in Leicester...

HO107/2090/153/12

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QKVT-YGK1

Robt Allen    Head    M    38    Belper, Derbyshire
Mary Allen    Wife    F    39    Belper, Derbyshire
Alfred Allen    Son    M    16     Nottingham
Fredrick Allen    Son    M    8     Nottingham
William Allen    Son    M    6     Nottingham
Robt Allen    Son    M    1    , Leicester

1841? not a glove hand! in Basford

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7S4-4HM

Robt Allen       M    30-34
Mary Allen       F    30-34
Alfred Allen       M    4    Nottinghamshire

I can see there is a Robert still 1861 in Leicester and there is a marriage to Ann Taylor at All Saints. To add, this Robert baptises Frederick, William and Robert together at All Saints. It seems to be the Allen family with a Frederick but the occupations keep me guessing, as opposed to the other Robert where there is no Frederick

1851

Unfortunately, do you think he is the chap in the paper a lot, there's a conviction 18 Oct 1859 and he is listed in Pentonville and Chatham, 3 years I think which might account for 1861.

On a lighter note , 2 brothers married the same day, noted in the paper

Entry No.47,  SEP  6, 1863, after Banns
FREDERICK ALLEN...

Entry No.48,  SEP  6, 1863, after Banns
WILLIAM ALLEN, 19, bach. BRICK MAKER, of BARSTON St, s. of ROBERT ALLEN, GLOVE HAND
SARAH NORTHFOLD, 18, sp. of HENRY St, d. of JOHN NORTHFOLD, FWK
Wits: WILLIAM RASK, SUSANNA GOODWIN

off  to 1871!

It seems that young Frederick had had several brushes with the law before the 1859 case, hence the heavy sentence.
Leic Chronicle, june 1864 - charged with assaulting his wife when drunk - fined 7/6 or 10 days hard labour
July 1865 - charged (with others) with unlawfully using a gun to shoot game at Groby - described as a shoe finisher - fined £5 or 2 months hard labour
18 Nov 1865 - charged with stealing poultry from a farm in Belgrave - described as a nailer or shoe nailer - 15 months imprisonment with hard labour
Feb 1868 - stealing poultry again, at Glenfield; no mention of sentence.
Oct 1868 - there's a Frederick Allen convicted of begging at Irchester in Northants, don't know if this is the same one.

Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)

Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)

And there's more -

July 1870 - assaulting his wife (again). She is described as a "respectable looking woman"; Fred had come home drunk, beat her around the head and told her to go as he had a better woman than her. She left. Fred fined 21/- or a months hard labour.

After this all seems to go quiet on the Leicester front for a while, but by the mid 1870s there was a character regularly parading through the courts in Spalding, whose name is given as William Allen alias Frederick Allen alias William Edward Watson, address Spalding --- might be worth checking out?

Back in Leicester in 1878 - 6 weeks hard labour for theft again -

Then another break without being able to confirm that any of the reports are about him, until he pops up again in 1896 -- age 61, shoehand, no fixed abode, sleeping in a haystack in New Parks (where he carried out the 1859 robberies!) 7 days hard labour.

So this may be his death:
Deaths Mar 1898   (>99%)
Allen    Frederick    65    Leicester    7a   161
Bradbury (Sedgeley, Bilston, Warrington)
Cooper (Sedgeley, Bilston)
Kilner/Kilmer (Leic, Notts)
Greenfield (Liverpool)
Holyland (Anywhere and everywhere, also Holiland Holliland Hollyland)
Pryce/Price (Welshpool, Liverpool)
Rawson (Leicester)
Upton (Desford, Leics)
Partrick (Vera and George, Leicester)
Marshall (Westmorland, Cheshire/Leicester)
