Deleted photos from Android phone by accident
« on: Saturday 26 March 16 17:09 GMT (UK) »
I have a Galaxy J5, takes great pictures. I was just trying to sort out a file for some picture and have deleted by mistake. Any help in how I retrieve them? Can't see any help that makes sense on interwebby!

Thanks, but so far that hasn't worked.... downloaded the programme, but it doesn't seem to find phone or camera on my computer, despite it appearing in my file list. Maybe Windows 10 got something to do with it?

I'll keep trying

Thanks again

Has your phone updated recently to Android marshmallow? I have discovered that a new security measure means that when you connect the phone to the pc you now need to enable the USB connection by swiping down and selecting it.

No don't think that I have anything called Marshmallow with my phone.....have partially solved the deleted images, but they have come back in a smaller format, bit like thumbnails....used a programme called Diskdigger, but it won't retrieve larger images unless I "root" my phone....don't want to do that as I think it invalidates the warranty on it....

Thanks anyway

Marshmallow is the name given to the latest version of the Android Operating System! ;D

Previous versions were:
Lollipop
KitKat
Jelly Bean
Ice Cream Sandwich
Honeycomb
Gingerbread
Froyo
Eclair
Donut
and Cupcake.

On my phone (Sony Xperia) its:

Settings
About Phone

Android Version (mine is 4.3 which is Jelly Bean).

Version 6 is Marshmallow.
5 is Lollipop
4.4 is KitKat; 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 is Jelly Bean

Anything before that is earlier than 2011.

The chance is rate and you have to root your phone first. Almost all data recovery require root for Android devices.
