She actually died 1978:

She died at the Childwell Priory address on 28th April 1978 and left £12,985

Hi Jan,

You are a star, thank you very much for all that information, I am OK with Scotland's Peoples Record site but find it difficult to operate the English record system were you do not get a birth or marriage certificate as a matter of course.
Looks like she had a lot of grief in her life with her husband and children all passing long before her.

Sad isn't it. Looking at the probate record for John it doesn't mention family, so he may not have married.

The son Hugh married in 1953 in Kensington. Using Freebmd, it looks as if they had one daughter born in the first quarter of 1959, so not long before he died.
