I have found the family on the 1861 Census living at Gyfin, Llandegai, Father Griffith Jones Slate Quarryman age 36 born Llandegai, Mother Ellen age 31 born Llanllechid, Jane 4 born Llandegai,  Ellen age 4 born Llandegai, William age 1 born Llandegai. Perhaps Jane was buried at Llanllechid as her Mother Ellen was from there.

Thanks for the reply. The Jane i was looking for is the daughter of thomas and Ellinor Jones born abt 1857/8 Llanllechid, she is on the 1861 census but not on the 1871 census  RG9; Piece: 4355; Folio: 12; Page: 24

You can rule out the Jane Jones mentioned in your first message then. I have found a possible match for your  Jane Jones on the 1871 Census born 1857 Llanllechid, living and working as a General Servant age 14 for William & Jane Griffiths at Cerrig Y Rhyd, Betws Garmon, Caernarvonshire. (which is a small hamlet just outside Waenfawr.

Thanks for the information, i seen that one but what put me off was she had a older sister mary aged 16 living at home.

Why would the fact Mary was still living at home make a difference? perhaps she wasn't ready to leave and Jane was. There could have been many other reasons such as ill health etc.
