Edward Readman emigration 1815
« on: Saturday 02 April 16 11:24 BST (UK) »
I am looking for an Edward Readman b. 1770 in Ireland who emigrated to North Carolina from England 1815. with wife Mary and children.

Some of you may think this is Edward Redman my ancestor but it is not. Mine left England 1820 bound for Philadelphia. I have found passenger records.

I am trying to eliminate info from other trees which show my family but I think is incorrect. Trying to get proof I am correct and this is either made up or a completely different Edward.

Hope someone can help I have tried but can't find anything.

If you are looking at those online trees on Ancestry, Jane, a lot don't look very well researched and quote as their sources "Ancestry trees" so are probably just copied from each other. One in particular has his marriage to Mary Moran in 1803 followed by a marriage to Jane Greenfield the following year and then birth of several children. However, they also state that Mary doesn't die until 1850!

There is one tree on there that does look as if it might be well sourced, but it is private, so you would need to contact the owner.

Obviously all copied from each other - very few sources on most of them - most are very poorly researched - the private tree is probably the best option with 15 attached records and 17 sources. That was probably the ancestry member who tried to help you years ago.

If people are unsure of a marriage and there are numerous possibilities, they don't have the necessary proof but they still list all the possible options - this may be what you are looking at. Doesn't make the information correct though.

There is no passenger list that I can see for Edward Readman/Redman and Mary in that time frame and I wouldn't expect to find one.

Thanks Jan and Sandra. I have contact with one tree owner not the one you thinking of Sandra! Better not put name here.

Can't look a private trees at moment. I agree just listing possible options.

Just thought I would put feelers out for Edward Readman.

Thanks for replies.

No-one can look at private tree's without a subscription and invite, public tree's just need subscription.

Thanks Sandra. I usually buy monthly subscription when I need. So all I can see are public trees. How do you get an invite to look at private tree?
