Hullo everybody
Trying to trace any French ancestry or connections with the Huguenot silk weavers for my gt gt grandmother Sarah Collier.

Birth 1827. parents William Collier weaver and Elizabeth ( probably Beech) also a weaver.
1841 Census shows Sarah aged 14 as a weaver at home with siblings and parents Hope St Bethnal Green. 4 other older siblings there also weavers.

Marriage to Frederick Gadderer in 1847 .    Birth of my gt grandmother Elizabeth Charlotte Gadderer at 13 Mead St 1860. Bethnal Green.

Death 1896.

My grandmother Emily Norton used to talk about Sarah sitting spinning, dressed in black and speaking French and bad English. This would have been between 1891 and 1896. She said that Sarah came from Huguenot ancestors who had escaped and settled in  Spitalfields.     Apparently her husband gave Sarah' s papers about her French connections to her younger brother Henri. ( note, not Henry).

I know there is a huge Collier dynasty of weavers out there but I wondered if anybody could help track back from Sarah and her parents and see if we can find any French ancestors please?

Thanks a lot! I would be most grateful for some help please.

Hi
Thank you!  I thought it was Beech.  As far as I know William's father was also called William just to make life more difficult!

Good Morning!
Thank you.  So it looks like maybe he also had perhaps a sister called Jane.  Any idea whether the William you found was a weaver?
