Ivor Edwin Jones

Looking for information on Ivor Edwin Jones. Born in Wales and lived in Herefordshire, later lived somewhere in Australia where he passed away. Married to Marjorie Strangwood, had a brother named Stanley Jones and six children ^(*).

So far found a marriage record to Marjorie Strangwood from December 1949 but I haven't been able to find any birth or death records. Would appreciate if anyone has any more information on him.

Have you applied for his marriage certificate for information about his father, and his age, possibly?

Free bmd has her name as Margery M L Strangwood, marriage in Hereford. 

Children born 1950 to 1967, so all probably alive.

Margery could also be alive.

Something doesn't add up here.

Marriage 1949 and 6 children born 1950-1967.  If Margery was born 1916 she was too old to have had a child b 1967 so that 1916 birth can't be her

He was most likely born in the 1920s or the 1930s, but that's just a guess.

I've looked and her name is spelled Marjorie, however Margery could just be an error. Her middle names were May Lavinia, so Margery M L Strangwood does sound right. I'll have a look at that now.

He's my grandfather on my dad's side and what I know about him is from what my father has told me, but currently I'm unable to contact him, though I plan on finding out more about him but even then I think my dad isn't quite sure about when he was born, or when he died as Ivor became estranged from the family when my father was still a teenager, and that was when he moved to Australia. All I know about Ivor's family is his brother, Stanley, who fought in either WW1 or WW2.

I don't think that was her, she passed away in 2010 aged 78 I believe, so she would have been born in 1932.

I also found that record of Ivor Edwin Jones that you found, however I believe it is incorrect as that would have made Ivor 71 and Marjorie 29 in 1961, the year my father was born. That record also does state that Ivor had a brother named Stanley which is correct, however the big age gap has made me doubt whether that's the Ivor I'm looking for.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, Marjorie remarried later on at some point and her surname became Reynolds, which was also her surname when she passed away in 2010, however I haven't managed to find any marriage or death records yet.
