DEATH - Londonderry- BURIAL Glenermott New Burial Ground 1929
« on: Monday 04 April 16 03:53 BST (UK) »
I have the following information and try as I may I have not been able to find a death notice - a death certificate - a burial site..

Jane CRAWFORD (spinster) died on 19 December 1929 , her current address was 3 Olive Tce, Waterside, Londonderry. She had the Funeral Service and was buried at Glendermott New Burial Ground. She was 83 when she passed.  I had a photo of her son taken by her grave but it is not possible to read the inscriptions.

I want a death certificate, a will?? a newspaper notice or whatever I can.. All help  greatly appreciated. Glenda

Not sure why you haven't found the death certificate as I found it easily on GRONI (although your death date and age were slightly off)- I just searched for death 1929 Jane Crawford.

Jane Crawford, age 85, died 18 Dec.1929 Londonderry district

You can view the certificate on GRONI's site for a few credits after registering-
https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk/

I don't see a Will or administration listed for her-

I had searched GRONI I have 3 versions of the search I did and I didn't find a thing. Thank you I will now send for a certificate, or maybe view it first as want parents names.  OK have  paid for (am spending someone elses money) a search and got  a picture of the death, no parents on it. IF I order a full certificate for 1929 are the parents likely to be noted on it, just before I spend any more of my friends money. thanks for your help..Glenda

Not sure where you'd searched previously as there is only ONE version of GRONI's database which is on their site. Perhaps you were searching the online civil registration index instead (Family Search and Ancestry have that).

Irish certificates do not list parents- see here for details found on death certificates-

If you viewed the scanned image on GRONI's site then you have seen the actual certificate and ordering a copy will not be any different.

Thank you for that I will not waste their money. No I definitely searched GRONI I joined it I think at your suggestion some time ago looking for the death of the daughter of this lady. Now to try and find a marriage if indeed she really was a Widow. Thank You again. Glenda

Your first post says she was a spinster- what status is given on the death certificate? and who registered the death?

Her status on her death information was Widow husband a labourer.
Her Granddaughter Isabella (Bella) was the one her was with her at her death.
On her daughters birth certificate Jane's maiden name was given as CRAWFORD, she was listed as Spinster and no father was named of the child, occupation Seamstress. There was a family "rumour" that the father/now husband? was James.
This is other conflicting information we have.
1901 Census Jane shown as Single Seamstress  born c 1836 aged 64 she had her daughter and a granddaughter Isabella with her.
1911 Census Jane shown as a Seamstress and a Widow... born 1846 and aged 65
I think it should have read 75 as 83 when died 18 years later.
She had her 3 Grandchildren with her in the 1911 census as her daughter died in 1908 of "wasting away" which is apparently currently called TB. The daughters 3 children all born out of wedlock and the rumour there is that the father was a very prominent Methodist Church Minister/Member? think that is something that will never be known. Be interesting to see the 1921 census when it comes out hopefully I will live that long. Glenda

No 1921 Census due to rebellion!

I believe the 1925 NI one was destroyed...
Give a man a record and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to research, and you feed him for a lifetime.
