Birth of Hannah Atkinson daughter of Richard Atkinson abt 1665
« on: Wednesday 06 April 16 10:43 BST (UK) »
Hannah Atkinson & Joseph Goad married in 1685 at which time Hannah was said to be daughter of Richard Atkinson of Harleton, Westmoreland.

I have seen it said that Hannah was born in 1666 but I am unable to locate any records to substantiate that date.

Hoping for some assistance please and just maybe Hannah's mother's name.  ;D

Richard ATKINSON was of Farleton. He was buried in Preston Patrick (Quaker) on the 29 Apr 1720. His wife Jane was also buried there on the 27 Feb 1715. Their daughter Jane was baptised in St James, Burton in Kendal on the 31 Jan 1657 (being recorded as the daughter of Richard of Farleton). She appears to have been their only child baptised there. She was buried on the 27 Apr 1672 within Preston Patrick (Quaker). Another child, John, was buried there the following year, on the 29 Aug 1673. A daughter Elizabeth married there on the 21 Oct 1674, suggesting that Richard & Jane probably married prior to 1654. Elizabeth remarried in 1682, Hannah in 1685 and Deborah in 1694. Among the numerous witnesses at these marriages were Richard, John and Rowland ATKINSON.

Some interesting references to your Richard ATKINSON of Farleton.
http://www.british-history.ac.uk/kendale-barony/vol3/pp266-267

The Lancashire Record Office in Preston holds about a dozen wills made by ATKINSONs of Farleton, including the will of your Richard ATKINSON.

Thomas ATKINSON husbandman/yeoman of Farleton, Beetham, 14 Dec 1602 (Will, Inventory, Admon)
Richard ATKINSON of Farleton, Beetham, 20 Dec 1626 (W, I, A)
Thomas ATKINSON of Farleton, Beetham 30 Oct 1628 (A)
Thomas ATKINSON of Farleton, Beetham, 9 Jun 1649 (W, I, A)
Rowland ATKINSON (the elder) of Farleton, Beetham, 26 May 1664 (W, I, A)
Roland ATKINSON of Farleton, Beetham, 23 Sep 1676 (A, I, Curon)
Robert ATKINSON, Yeoman of Farleton, Beetham, 23 Jun 1692 (W, I, A)
Richard ATKINSON, Yeoman of Farleton, Beetham, 5 May 1720 (W, I, A)
Rowland ATKINSON, Yeoman of Farleton, Beetham, 25 Jul 1730 (W, I)
...plus several later probate records.

A response to your query on another site ( http://quakerhotchpotch.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/farleton.html ) has presented detail from Richard's will, which clearly indicates that he had a daughter Jane who married Samuel PARRAT. Therefore she can't have been the Jane buried in 1672. This 'might' suggest that there were two Richard ATKINSONs (both Quakers) within Farleton at a similar time, yet there may be other explanations. Perhaps some of the other wills (mentioned above) may help to resolve this.

Thank you so much for your efforts.  :)

It seems the other site is a blogger site and I really appreciate the efforts that were made but no idea how to reply.
