Leahys and Kearneys of Fethard
« on: Wednesday 06 April 16 15:48 BST (UK) »
;D After decades of looking, just yesterday I found the baptism registry at NLI for my gg grandfather, Dennis Leahy! We had always heard he was from Thurles, but I found him in Fethard, with the spelling Denis Lahy. His father was also Denis, and his mother was Mary Kearney. In Ancestry, the mother's name was listed as Heaney.
Was Thurles the major town in the area in the early 1800s? That may explain the Thurles reference.
Are there Leahys and Kearneys in Fethard today? I will be visiting in June, and would love to track down some cousins!  :D If there are any doing DNA research my info (and my brother's) is on Gedmatch, we are also on Ancestry, FamilyTree, 23&me.

Hi,
I can't find your tree in Ancestry.
It is easy to track people but I can't tell you how to on this message page as they still living. (well in some cases)
You will need a few replies before I can send a Private Message.
Thanks
