Hallmark,

Thanks for the links. The Whyte headstone is familiar to me thanks. The images of the ARVA headstones are very interesting. I see a number of names in my wider tree .

Shawn,

Thanks for your further information. I too am trying to make real progress at Henry and Francis Whyte. I have quite a bit of information for the Whyte family . Henrietta Olivia (Whyte) Taverner was my mothers aunt and she  also had a good lifelong friendship with James Taverner's sisters Winnie and Dorrie. Where are your inlaws in the tree?

This post is a natural hand made product. The slight variations in spelling and grammar enhance its individual character and beauty and in no way are to be considered flaws. Unfortunately my preferred method of writing (Parker Quink on Basildon Bond) cannot be used.

Myra Taverner is the daughter of James Harvey Taverner and Henrietta Olivia Whyte.
Myra Taverner married Lawrence Franklin Green. They had a daughter named Gertrude Mae Green.
Gertrude Mae Green married John Wayne Kennedy. I am doing research for their Granddaughter

Hi,

My name is Caroline Walsh and I am researching my family tree in Cavan. My great great grandparents were William Hewitt of Gartylough/Arva (born ~1838) and Jane Whyte (White) (born 1843, died 1877) and their daughter Sarah Jane (born 1875) is my great grandmother. On their marriage in 1865, Jane’s father is listed as Richard Whyte and William’s father is Richard Hewitt.

I was hoping to find out more information concerning Jane White’s father Richard, like his wife’s name, other children they had, and his parents’ names.  Also, if anyone knows anything further about William Hewitt’s Dad, Richard.  Also, it appears that William Hewitt and Jane White’s firstborn, Richard did not marry and I am not sure what happened to him.

My great great grandmother Jane White Hewitt died in 1877 after the birth of their daughter, Kate Hewitt. William Hewitt remarried in 1882 to Elizabeth “Lizzie” Wilson. This second marriage was witnessed by R.A. Nesbit, Major C.M.R and George Fyfe (who was the son of John Fyfe, who supposedly came from Scotland and worked as an Agriculturalist for the Gosford estate. I am wondering if my family too has ties to the Gosford Estate, or Scotland or elsewhere but I haven’t had much success getting back much further than William Hewitt (father - Richard and Jane White (father - Richard Whyte)

I appreciate any information concerning my ancestors from Cavan. Also, what church would possibly hold their records (Church of Ireland churches near Gartylough/Arva) and are these records available online? (I live in New Jersey.) One other item my mother mentioned many years ago was that her mother’s family (Hewitts?) are descended from Huguenots.

Thank you,

Caroline Walsh

Shawn H,

I don't have anything on the Johnston family other than an unverified note on my tree info.

"Eliz Johnston may have been related to the Johnston families of Ballymagerril in Templeport parish near Swanlinbar, Cavan.  `b1784`"

For some reason the family after Richard White are named Whyte. My grandfather Blayney Whyte was the brother of Henrietta Olivia who married James Taverner.

Our Whyte family tree is fairly well documented. I'm sure that I can help you. Are you researching for someone or are you related?

SALEM - Sarah Anderson, a resident at Capital Manor for 32 years, died March 27, 2016 at the age of 108 years. Sally was born June 6, 1907 in Co. Cavan, Ireland to Blayney Whyte and Mary Eleanor Scott Whyte.

According to the Irish government office whose job is to keep track of centenarians born in Ireland no matter where they reside, Sally was the oldest living Irish person in the world in their records.

Sally and her first husband Niel Meadowcroft moved from Walla Walla, WA to Salem in 1976. After Niel died, Sally moved from Salem Town to Capital Manor where she met and married Arlie Anderson.
