Could I have relatives in Canada
« on: Thursday 07 April 16 16:09 BST (UK) »
My search begins looking for James McKenzie and his wife Margaret McPherson and family who emigrated to Canada I think sometime around 1841to 1842 taking this date from their last born child Catherine born 1840 and died at sea ....James is the son of Alexander and Ann McKenzie ( nee Polson )b 21.10.1808 Loth Sutherland
James and Margaret were married 21.12.1832 East Helmsdale I have the marriage from Scotlandspeople
The family they took with them to Canada were George b 1833 d 1903 Canada..Catherine b 1840 at sea and William b 1838 d 1868 Canada
I know there is a family tree on Google but have been told that some information on there is not correct plus I'm not one for taking someone's searching
I am entering this on Rootschat in the hope that someone might come back to me from Canada and be a relative ..I know they lived in Gore of Lockaber and Thurso Ottawa and that
Margaret died and James remarried and went on to have another 4 children Barbara ,John Donald and Margery
Any help will be welcome
Elizabeth

Let us know if that's the correct family and can try and trace forward.

This could well be the family I don't have the names for second the   family of James and Anna  Thomson

My George was born 1833 and died 1903 ( might be just a mistake 08.3.1903  )

We do have James and Margaret in that family but then not sure they used the family names for their family

Looking at the find a grave entry I quoted above it says Margaret was Margaret Campbell MCkenzie born 1822 but you say your Margaret was Margaret McPherson  ??? So although George seems to fit, it the wrong birth mother.

Are you sure that James married Anna Thomson  ??? The son George McKenzie was married to Anna Thomson.

George McKenzie born 1834 Scotland and aged 34 years - father James McKenzie and Mother Margaret. Married Carleton Ottawa - 8 July 1859 - Anna Thomson born 1837 and aged 22 years - father James Thomson and Mother Anna Hoyle.
