Janet Leitch - 1836-1915

Janet Leitch was born abt. 1836 Paisley, Renfew, Scotland.

I'm trying to find her on any Canadian Census after 1871. Also arrival in Canada.

I have her death details from family search.org and from Ancestry.  She died 12 Sep 1915. Martintown, Ontario. Janet Leitch is buried in the St Andrew's Cemetery, Martintown.
The information all checks out - except it says she was a 'widow, however I'm sure this was a mistake.
Janet Leitch had a brother David Leitch who immigrated to Canada, with his family in 1871 (16 May 1871), on the Corinthian.

Would appreciate it if some kind person is able to find her arrival or on the Canadian census.

There is an Ontario Death Certificate for a Janet Leith born 1836 Paisley Scotland and aged 79 years. Passed away 12 September 1915 Martintown County of Glengarry Ontario. Widowed. Mothers maiden name given was Jean Henderson.

What was the name of your Janet's mother ?

There is a David Leitch also in Glengarry on the 1901 census.

You have a typo in her death information. It's 1915, not 1912.

Janet did marry but her death appears to have been registered under her maiden surname. I found a family in Charlottenburg, Ontario (where Janet Leitch's death was registered) headed by John and Janet McFarlane that I thought looked promising. They had a number of children including a daughter named Charlotte whose marriage to Andrew McDermid I found. FamilySearch has a marriage for John McFarlane and Janet Leitch in Paisley on 14 Oct 1854.

I haven't found when they came over but it would appear to be between 1862 and 1868 going on the birth years of Hugh (born in Scotland) and Robert (born in Canada). I'm still trying to find them on the 1871 and 1881 Canada census as well but that will have to wait because it's way past my bedtime.
