Hello kooky,
A small mention here of an air crash near Pitmedden, which is not all that far from Caulhame.
          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pitmedden
The Heritage Centre/Museum at Tarves might be able to help.
               Regards,     Dod.

I would echo ecksdochter's suggestion. I went to the heritage centre in Tarves several years ago. They have a large archive of newspaper articles relevant to the area, and I seem to remember seeing one there about a nearby plane crash during the war. It sounds like it could be the one you mention. Their website is http://www.tarvesheritage.org.uk/

Hi

Yes, 3rd Sept 1940, two Blenheims collided and crashed a mile apart.

The crash report (in National Archives) says out the two aircraft, 5 crew were killed - 2 in one, 3 in another.

One aircraft lost a wing in the collision (2-3000 ft) and the other immediately exploded. Both were completely burnt out and destroyed rough locations are given in the crash report

I am writing a book about WW2 in the area, and not wanting to give too much away at the minute as this crash is in one of the sections.

There were several in the area in WW2!
