Was there a Church Magazine at this time? Or other Parish Records where a mention could be made
of this said event.

Maybe there is a mention in the paper, but if the bodies were not named at the time, then that would explain why you can't find them by searching for any of the names.  Does that make sense?

Might it be worth having a look at the actual burial register to see if there are any marginal notes?

The only notes in the original are ' Drowned with father' and 'Drowned with sons' ..

Its so strange that their deaths were not registered

Is it worth searching for the date of death  but with name  "Unknown"

I think that the answer may be that the two boys were unidentified when the bodies were discovered. On the Dartford registrations on freeBMD [JuneQ 1858] there are two Unknown Males recorded. This suggests the father William may have been discovered a few days later and was identified as such. It was possibly at the inquest that it was established that they were a family and taking into account the very advanced pregnancy of the widow the substitution of their names on the "Unknown" registrations was overlooked at the time.

It would be fair to point out that coastal counties do get bodies washed ashore so there is no certainty that the ones recorded were Osborne or William but it appears likely. In particular the bodies were described as Male and the alternative Infant or Child would have been more useful to you.

Thats the cert I ordered.. William Wolley.. It arrived this morning.. not my man.. So those 2 unknown males probably arent mine either..

Just searched Jun qtr 1858, and there is one unknown male for Milton.. possibly?
