The Grapes Inn, John Street, Ancoats
« on: Thursday 21 April 16 07:52 BST (UK) »
Trawling my family history I found that a member was a bar maid and her father ran the Grapes Inn in John Street, Ancoats in th1800s.  I wondered if anyone knows if its still there, if there are any pictures of it and any history that is linked to it?

According to this site, it was still there in 1911.

Thanks very much stanmapstone for the map, its amazing looking at what it was like when I last saw it and what it looks like now.  I presume John Street was somewhere near Ancoats Hospital.  Also thank you to pinefamily.  Yes, you have the right family, my relative was the bar maid!

I have been recapping on Lucy Yates a bar maid whose family ran the Grapes Inn and member pinefamily sent me a link to it back in 1916.  Having found some more information on my family Gleave I came back to find the link you had sent me.  Unfortunately it doesn't work anymore so I can't find her name at the pub when she married my great-grandfather Ellis Gleave in 1900.  They lived in Ancoats in 1900. Any help appreciated.
