FindMyPast/FreeBMD Marriage??

Hi all, hopefully someone can give ( at least me) an answer to this marriage :-

FreeBMD Thomas CHADDOCK/Sarah Davies March qtr 1861 Madeley 6a 830

FindMyPast Thomas Chadwick/Sarah Davies March qtr 1861 Madeley 6a 830

The parish register entry is clearly Chaddock on FindMyPast so how did they know that in the1861 census the couple were now shown as Chadwick?

The original on freeBMD is very clear and is Chaddock

The original on FindMyPast is a very poor smudged copy and someone has guessed the name Chadwick from a name a couple of entries further on (but if they had thought about it it could not have been as then the forenames would be out of alphabetical order)

The GRO index is clearly Chaddock and is followed by another Chaddock entry in Wolstanton.  The Chadwick entries only start after the Wolstanton entry

Has somebody reported a mis-transcription or alternative name etc on FindMyPast?

  Thanks for such a quick reply, so should I contact FindMyPast and say well done for forecasting the subsequent surname of the couple?!

You can't, you can only suggest a correction which they may or may not accept depending on whether they agree with your suggestion.  Unlike ancestry they don't allow alternatives to be added to the index.

Although the name is clear on freebmd original the page number is quite hard to interpret.

John, Emma, and Hannah's births were registered as Chedwick.  Elizabeth as Chadwick
