Jackie, from that 1886 marriage cert, what was the occupation of Alexander McDonald, Jessie's father? Witnesses' names to the marriage?

Hi Monica,

I wonder if your find is the same as mine?
There is a Jessie McKay (maiden name McInnes) that I have just found in 1891 with a daughter Marion born late 1880s so not sure now on that possible 1901 census entry above with mother and Daughter in S Uist  :-\

1891
South Boisdale

Marion MacInnes Head W 62
Janet MacKay Dau M 24
Marion MacKay GrnDau 4
Alexander MacInnes Son 32

Jackie,

From what I've found with the info. on 1891......

South Boisdale

Marion MacInnes Head W 62
Janet MacKay Dau M 24
Marion MacKay GrnDau 4
Alexander MacInnes Son 32

Seems to be.......

Marion MacInnes c 1832-1895 m/s MacDonald daughter of Alexander had Janet MacDonald/MacInnes c1856 South Uist (illegitimate)? who married Roderick MacKay.
Marion's Mother's name/maiden name would be on her death cert. hopefully?

EDIT
Marion MacDonald married Andrew (son of Alexander) MacInnes - (sorry no date or place)
Children of Marion & Andrew:

1. Alexander c 1863
2. Mary c 1864

Roderick MacKay b c 1862 Tabost, Lewis, married Janet MacDonald/MacInnes
EDIT Roderick was son of Duncan who was son of Norman
Child of Roderick & Janet:
Marion married, supposedly (1st) to Robert Crawford of Kintyre, Argyll (son of Archibald), had a son Edward c1911 (died young), was widowed & married (2nd) to Alexander MacDonald of Glebe House, Daliburgh, S/Uist.

Annie

ADDED........

The birth of son Edward would confirm the marriage date for 1st marriage if it did take place as Edward may have been illegitimate if she has proclaimed to be single on "2nd" marriage?
The marriage to Robert Crawford (if there was one) would confirm if this is the same person with same parents.

South Uist, Inverness-shire, Scotland:- Bowie, Campbell, Cumming, Currie

Newcastle-on-Tyne/Durham (Northumberland):- Harrison, Jude, Kemp, Lunn, Mellon, Robson, Stirling

Kettering, Northampton:- MacKinnon

Canada:- Callaghan, Cumming, MacPhee

;D All this info and past midnight, Annie!

Just a question first. Annie, you included this above:

Roderick MacKay b c 1862 Tabost, Lewis married Janet MacDonald/MacInnes
Child:

I thought we had Roderick born in the Lochs to Duncan and Isabella in 1862? If he was born in Lewis, I think I have found his death in 1891 in the marine registers. Let me find again and I will clip on here.

Marion MacDonald married Alexander/Andrew MacInnes - (sorry no date or place)
Children of Marion & Alexander/Andrew:

1. Alexander c 1863
2. Mary c 1864

From the FS indexes:

1862 marriage to Andrew McInnes https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XT5N-2ZY

Births of McInnes children:

1862 Alexander https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYYH-DLQ
1865 Mary https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYYH-DLQ

For Jessie, the closest I can see, is one in 1856 which perhaps implies that mother Marion McDonald was married to an Alexander McDonald (or had a child with?) before her marriage to Andrew McInnes?

https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:XYPV-N5K

Would fit well with this from earlier:

I know jessies parents were Alexander MacDonald and Mary Ann MacDonald but dont know much more

1871 here:

Merion Mcinnes 40 pauper
Janet Mcinnes 13
Alexander Mcinnes 8
Mary Mcinnes 5

Address: 36 So Boisdale, S Uist
