Was this photo taken at Fintry?
« on: Tuesday 26 April 16 10:19 BST (UK) »
This photo, which includes my uncle, Jim Colquhoun, was taken in the early 1920's. The family lived in Tayvallich and Easterhouse as well as at Rashiehill Farm, Fintry during this time. I've already posted on the Argyllshire and Lanarkshire boards in the hope that someone might be able to identify the location. I would be grateful if anyone knows if this photo was taken in the Fintry area. Thank you.

Are you thinking that the building in the background is/was a church?

If so, then unfortunately, it's not Fintry Kirk.

I don't know about Fintry Schools, but on your photo, I noticed what looked like an urn (above the first boy on the left's head) - the sort that sits on top of gravestones and that was what made me think it might have been a church.

The building does look like a kirk - note the lancet window with decorative brickwork just above and to the left of the teacher.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.
