Ogden family of Birkenhead
« on: Wednesday 27 April 16 14:06 BST (UK) »
I am trying to find info about a George Edward Ogden born 1893. His parents were Richard Ogden and Mary Agnes. George and brother Benjamin were Home Children and sent from the Liverpool Sheltering Home to Knowlton Quebec in 1904. We have all info for Benjamin onwards but no idea what happened to George. Does anyone else have these people they are researching?

Hi Sue, at one time I was quite involved in the transcription of the 1891 census for this home.  This was a long time ago before any records were online and I came across it quite by chance in a microfilm search of Liverpool when I was looking at various streets.  A Canadian friend put me in touch with Marj Kohli of the University of Waterloo, Canada, who matched up my transcribed records with the incoming passenger lists of these children.  The caretaker of this home let me come inside and take photo's a few years later when I told him why I was interested, this was before it was turned into student accommodation.  I have them somewhere on my computer if you are interested.

I know this is before the time period you are looking at but this lady knows a LOT about Home Children.

Hello sueog
Was the father Richard Ogden a shoemaker?
Were George and Benjamin the only children of Richard?
I have found a newspaper article dated 1892, year before George Edward Ogden was born, not sure if this will be of interest to you, maybe not the correct family?
