The time period you are looking at can often help. Also, what is the source of the place name?

Hi the time frame is mid to late 1700s,I think it was near the Haughead/Clachan of Campsie area in the parish looking at births etc..The information came from the old Family Search site.
I also have a Gooly hole as a place of birth for one of them ::)!!
Thanks for your interest.

What is the source for the names and spellings? If you have original documents, you could scan them for more help with spelling. If it's someone else's spelling, take it with a pinch of salt!

Likely Winnymiln which evolved into Windyedge it was on the Fells below Woodhead and part of the estate.  Gollhole as it was actually called, was just north of the estate.

Scottish record society has an online archive that has a Whippymiln in the 1600s. Don are you local to the area?Again thanks for all your input.

No not local, my family were there for a very long time after moving down from Cult just west of Strathblane.  They were at Balgrachan and Muckritt below Windyedge the last family member left there in 1693 and moved into Cumbernauld.
