Children's Home, Woodside Crescent, Craigie, Perth (1960's)
« on: Friday 29 April 16 13:25 BST (UK) »
Hi Folks,

Does anyone know of a Children's Home in Woodside Crescent, Craigie, Perth City c 1960's?

I don't know when it would have opened but it was in use in 1963/64 with a child placed there while the mother was in hospital giving birth to a sibling & father working full-time.

Edit
I am trying to find out the name of it & the no. on the street?

I now believe it was not quite a Children's Home but similar to a "Safe House" which was for children in the aforementioned circumstances & was a normal house in that street which may still be there in the present day

Do not have any info re the 1960's, but would like info myself during the 1915's.
My mother and her three sisters, born 1908 to 1915, were put into a home by their mother after the death of my grandfather in 1915 (France & Flanders) the only info I have is the name Craigie, Perth, we have spent ages trying to find out "where and why" if anyone has any further information it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you - Patvp

Hi Pat,

What was the surname & where did they live prior to going to Craigie?

Hi Rosinish - Surname was McKay, and they lived in Dunblane or could possibly have been in Alva, that  is what we cannot understand as there was plenty of family support in both area's.
Thanks for the interest, home we can solve the mystery.

Hi Pat,

I believe there was a place of the same principle in (Edited), Dunning, Perthshire named Kippen House?

Bruce,

Thanks for that name "Cleeve", will have to dig some more & shake a few memories.

I am told that the one at 36 Woodside Crescent, still exists although unsure whether still in use as that kind of facility?

Annie
