Davar and Heriot Town
« on: Friday 29 April 16 19:18 BST (UK) »
On two birth certificates of 1804 and 1807, the above are given as place names in Midlothian and I'm wondering if anyone can enlighten me as to exactly where they are/were located? The father of the children was working at these locations as a stone mason.
Thanks,
Bob.

Might it be "Dewar" rather than "Davar"?

There's a hamlet called Dewar in the Parish of Heriot (to the south west of Heriot)

Very many thanks for the map and you prompt response, hanes teulu. A magnifying glass on the very faded birth certificate also proved the place name to be Dewar.  Great result indeed and thanks again.
