Piper Withersfield / Haverhill Suffolk / Ashen Essex
« on: Sunday 01 May 16 20:50 BST (UK) »
http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=705561.0

I have previously posted on the above link re Piper's from Withersfield.

I have been informed that the parish boundary line has altered many times over the years, therefore it may well be that the Piper's that I am researching descend from Suffolk and Essex.

I descend from Mark Piper baptized 26 March 1749 , St Mary The Virgin , Withersfield , Suffolk.
His Parents were John Piper and Mary Boyton.

John is where I am having problems as there seems to be a gap in the records however the closest I can come is John Piper c1720 born Glemsford and John's father is Stephen married to Sarah,

My Q Is does anyone out there have any better information?
Q Do wedding certificates at this time c 1743 include parents details to verify if the relative is the one you seek?

I have tried Church grave yard stones etc, LDS and generous help on here previously however have hit that wall.

Any advice or help or do people think that may be the end of my research?

My John did indeed die Jun 1786 and was buried 26 Jun 1786.
Where did you get the information about his second marriage and the children?

I have left details with Haverhill and Withersfield Genealogy's Historical group on their web site however have only received negative results re Piper information.

I'd be interested in your information links posted on here and or the site you obtained this.
I am still trying to find Johns whereabouts or his parents.

Thanks for reply Chinny.

Laurie1 - Chinny did say the marriage and further children were found on familysearch.org.

Whilst I can't locate his baptism at all surely John Piper must connect to the John and Susanna Piper who had 3 children baptised at Withersfield, 1708-1710:

Mary bp.3/5/1708
Mark bp.25/9/1709
Susan bp.21/11/1710

Mark was far from a common Christian name in those days and for your John to name a son Mark too in Withersfield they must surely connect somewhere.

There were no marriage certificates as such, just the entries in the parish register.

In answer to your question, no parents are shown at all at this time.   It is only when civil registration began in 1837 that fathers were named - but mothers never are.

Annette,
I see your logic as these are from Withersfield however there are at least four other Piper families mentioned, Edward, Thomas, Issac and James. However taking your sound logic there is no John or Stephen attached to the people mentioned nor can I currently find any person descended from Mark 1709 on the LDS site.

I refer back to my opening question believing that there are gaps in the data that has been recorded on LDS or even that the data may not longer exist.

I have visited a number of sites but have hit that wall.

Annette thanks for post.

Would any of these records be kept at The Public Record Offices?
