The age is a bit out for that death - what about this one (but again no probate entry)

Henry J Bright

Possible marriage of John & Hannah

John Bright
Hannah Iles
Marriage    15 Nov 1835, Bitton

Both made their mark. Witnesses Thomas Bright (made mark) and Charles Ship, clerk.

This fits the age of their oldest children, if you follow them back on censuses

Do you know who the witnesses are for Henry and mary Jane's marriage -might help link him more firmly to John

John Bright    10 - scholar
Henry Bright    7  - scholar
Giles Bright    5  - scholar
Sarah Bright    3

RG 9, 1700, 48, 19

1851 - Potterswood

John Bright    35 - miner
Hannah Bright    35

There is another John Bright with a Bitton connect having children in the 1840s and 50s period. he is married to Ann and living in Hanham, but doesn;t appear to have a Henry the right age

In 1911 Henry and Mary are living at 51 Two Mile Hill, St. George, Bristol with two daughters.  Henry's occupation is underground coal hewer.

They had nine children, five still living, four died.

I might be wrong but I think if there is less than a certain amount the probate record doesn't appear.  I just checked my grandmother for probate.  She died in 1994 and there is no record at all which means she left less than the necessary amount for probate.  This may be the case for Henry.

There is a birth registered in the DQ of 1854 for Keynsham as a Male BRIGHT.  This may be Henry who was registered without being named.

1891, 1901 and 1911 census records all give a birth year of 1854 which seems pretty consistent.  The 1881 has 1855 only one year out.

It looks to me as though the 1861 census that Mabel has found is the correct one.  In the 1871 census Henry is with his married sister Caroline Wiltshire and his occupation is coal miner.
