Could you tell me more about Lucy, please? I have no record at all of her. That is most fascinating.  :)

Hi,

Lucy's death is on familysearch - Deseronto in 1921... also some information about her children.
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:JNDJ-XGM

Looks like Rosella married Alexander Adair and ended up in the United States.

Death records for her children
George in Illinois
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:N3C1-JDJ

Robert in Texas
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:K3Q9-5N9

Alexander and Rosilla - 1880 census in Illinois
https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:MXN4-Z34

All the children were born in Canada, so they must have gone to the USA sometime in the 1870s.

Rozilla and Alexander's grave stone

http://www.rootschat.com/links/01hkx/

In Grandview Illinois.

Have you tried to locate an obituary for Rozilla?  Hopefully her parents will be named??? Same with Rosina Levely.  Have you checked the local library for an obituary of any kind for her?

Hi,

Likely that the twins married in the 1840s... have you checked to see if there are any marriage records for them in the District Marriage books??

THe note under your avatar mentions Vancouver.  Here are the Vancouver Public Library holdings for Ontario marriage from that time period.

Archives of Ontario microfilm (available through interlibrary loan)

You have all been so helpful and kind. I will certainly check out the Ontario records when I'm next in Vancouver (Seattle at the moment!).

I've been blessed with such an obscure family that no graves, notices, obits or records of any kind exist for 80% of them. Rural Ontario folk. Thanks for pointing me in some new directions.

Best,
L.

Mrs. Alexander Adair
Villa Grove News
Villa Grove, IL
December 1907

Mrs. Alexander Adair, a pioneer resident of south Champaign county, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Comer, Saturday, December 28, 1907, at the advanced age of 83 years, 4 months and 25 days. Funeral services were held from the late home on Tuesday afternoon at 1 o'clock by Rev. G. A. Fraizer and the body was taken to Edgar county where burial was made beside her husband.

Mrs. Adair, whose maiden name was Rozilla Soule, was born in Coburg, Northumberland county, Ontario, on August 3, 1824, and was married to the late Alexander Adair in 1847. To this union there were born ten children, as follows: One daughter, Jennie, who was the wife of Henry Lee, has passed to the world beyond. Those who survive are William and Thomas of Lebanon, Ind., Mrs. F. J. Miller of McLeansboro, Ill., Mrs. H. S. Homer of Indianapolis, Ind., Robert, of Clay City, Ill., George and John of Scotia, MO., Mrs. Charles Bennett of Westfield, Ill., and Mrs. Wm. Comer of Pesotum, with whom she spent her last days.

Mrs. Adair had been prostrated ever since the death of her husband. She was a friend to all, a foe to none. She has gone to the great beyond, her departure regretted by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. The bereaved family have the sincere sympathy of all in this sad hour.--Villa Grove News.

Obits for Alexander and George are the above site as well.

Alex and Rosella are in Haldimand Township in the 1851/52 Canadian Census (census taken in early 1852, ages given are as of next birthday), written and indexed as Idare:

Idare, Alex., labourer, born Ireland, Episcopal Methodist, aged 26, married
Idare, Rozella, born Ireland, aged 32, married
Idare, William, born Ireland, aged 4
Idare, Thos., born Ireland, aged 2

I suspect Rozella and the boys were not born in Ireland, but rather an overzealous use of ditto marks on the birthplace of Alexander was used by the census taker.
