So you're suggesting that Joseph's brother Thomas was the result of a (possibly incestuous) extramarital relationship between the father and an Eleanor Cleator!

Or probably a first marriage, right?

There are a lot of Cleators in and around Lezayre!
Eleanor and Thomas may be distantly related.

I'll try to get to the Manx Museum and see what I can find in the records.

BTW if you use FamilySearch.org, you can see more than just the index?!
