Hi Susan,

Do you have him on any census records with an approx birth yr & occupation from census/births?

What were the names of children in order from eldest to youngest as naming pattern may help?

Hi Susan,

Are any of these names relevant to Mary's line which you can eliminate firstly?

The only names I can pick out which "may" be of Scottish naming would be Jane & Isabella.

Normal Scottish pattern would be 1st son named after father's father (grandfather)

The name Joseph would suggest a possible Irish catholic connection?

Do you know when Angus died as a later census may give an actual place of birth within the County of Inverness?

Angus MacDonald is a very Scottish Highland name & could be the ultimate "needle in a haystack" unless you can find anything to point to a specific area?

Susan,

This is a listing of all recorded births within the Church of Scotland for Inverness in 1798.

15/03/1798 MCDONALD ANGUS ALLAN MC DONALD M KILMONIVAIG /INVERNESS 099/00 0010 0019
09/09/1798 MCDONALD ANGUS JOHN MCDONALD/ M KILTARLITY /INVERNESS 101/00 0010 0264
31/10/1798 MCDONALD ANGUS ALEXR. MCDONALD/JANET MCINTIRE M INVERNESS /INVERNESS 098/00 0060 0074

The problem with the above list is it does not account for those whose records which were lost, births not registered or members of another denomination, so there will be more.  The list also includes 2 births without a mother listed making it difficult to see if he had siblings whose names might match any names of his children.  Unfortunately there are no other children born of Alex/Janet McIntire/McIntyre that are recorded.

Unless his stone (if he has one), identifies where in Inverness he was born or perhaps something in a Will (if he had one), or a local newspaper or local history you will likely be unable to find an answer.

His marriage and burial (12 Feb 1865) are online if you need either send me PM with your email and I will send these your way.

Don
I have turned off all email notifications, thank you.

Thank you Don i have the marriage and death record its just i cant find his family in Scotland and have no idea where he was born as census just says Inverness.
It gets a bit frustrating as i cant get any further without his parents or sibblings.
