The date range I'm looking for is between 1929 & 1941.
I believe Hospital records can be accessed for these years as there is a closing time of 75 years. Mitchell library have records for Greater Glasgow,
I will try Harthill Hospital, as I think it's the most obvious

    Yes, the Mitchell Library may be a good bet.     About four years ago, I discovered that an ancestor was admitted to Hawkhead Hospital, Paisley.      I enquired about this at the Mitchell, and a time was arranged for me to go and see some hospital records.      These records told me why he was admitted, when he was admitted (1904) and that he died there in 1917.      The records also gave periodic reports of his mental health and behaviour.

    Having said that, this was a long term stay, so a nervous breakdown, being a lot shorter, may not have such detailed records.

Many hospital records nationally get destroyed after a certain number of years because of lack of storage space.
