:) I've got the birth certificate for my dad, so I now know his parent's names, which hospital and where they lived - so happy about that. Though concerned whether the full names were used as it seems like someone from the hospital filled out the registration 3 days after he was born.

I've done a search for his mother on family search and there are quite a lot of ladies with that name, married about the same time - how do you suss out which one is related to you, when it doesn't say who they married? It doesn't help that as yet I don't know where his parents were born, but hoping someone knowledgeable can advise, thanks.

Hi Nicky

Was the birth registered in Belfast or Northern Ireland generally?

If so I can split your new request off and re-post on the Ireland board.

If you're sure that your grandparents have passed away, it might be easier for all if you post their names.

I checked GRONI's website for N.I. marriages 1919-1937 for Violet Graham and no matches to a Hogg. If she was married previously then her marriage to William Hogg will be under her married name but the child's birth certificate will list her maiden name.

Just to point out to readers here that another forum you've posted to says that William and Violet lived at 11 Zetland Street, Belfast when your father was born in 1937, the only information emerging is Hoggs at that address from 1932 to at least 1960 according to street directories:

Reports in 1935 newspaper about theft/s by a William Hogg of Zetland Street (number not mentioned), which involved a 'harness'.

Also, according to the death notice for a George Hogg of Apsley Street in 1947, this George had a brother Walter Hogg (wife Mary), who lived at 13 Zetland Street.
