Have a look for her on the 1939 national register.

She may have been in one of the womens services like ATS     WRNS  or an Air Raid warden.   She may have served overseas.

Are the names in alphabetic order?

Could she be an addition from the Falklands campaign  or another conflict?

Someone  must have had the records in the 1940s  to be able to add her name to the memorial.    Ask the Town Council  or the Borough Council  or the local records office.

Thank you for the help . The Fred A Martin option seems viable Scouse boy (never thought of that.)
Also Th El Freda Martin with death 1943 Cobham from  bearcat. looks a strong possibility.

Freda Martin was my Nans sister and is buried at Cobham with her mother who died in the same year . My mum always said there was some sort of uproar in the village over her name being on the War Memorial but was not sure why .
Just recently I asked my Nans sister who I gained contact with after the death of my Nan , she informed me Freda was in the services during the war but died while having a tooth extracted . This could explain the villagers disagreement and I believe a family member was quite high up in the parish and wished it to stay .
I might request a death certificate and hopefully can confirm this story .
