Have you tried the Scotlands People website? Forgive me if you know about it - but you can purchase units and view on line marriage, birth and death records for units.

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

In 1881 a Charles Haggans married a Sarah Breslan in Glasgow. Is this the couple you mean? If so you should be able to see their actual marriage record - giving their parents names, on Scotlands People.
Places of interest;
Lancashire, West Yorkshire, Southern Ireland, Scotland.

Likely marriage isn't it. Think it is the only one with those names on SP.

This 1891 census entry could fit for this family:

Charles Higgins 29 bottle maker b. Ireland
Sarah Higgins 27 b. Partick, Renfrew
Susan Higgins 10
William Higgins 4
Matilda Higgins 2
Torance Higgins 21 brother, bottle worker

Address: Adelphi Place 10, Portobello, Duddingston, Midlothian

Everyone showing as born in Glasgow except for Sarah. Just a note, until you confirm details. Partick is not in Renfrewshire but in Govan Lanarkshire. Possible entry here for a birth for example https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:FQ7P-2F4

You should start with viewing the marriage cert mentioned by Pennines. Scottish marriage certs include names of bride and groom's mother and father.

Monica

Hi

There is a possible birth for daughter Susan:

12th October 1881 Milton, Lanark, Scotland, parents Charles Haggan & Sarah Haggan.

If the birth certificate confirms the mother's maiden name at least you would know if that is the correct family.

Kirsty
Galloway,   Landers,   Lindsay,  Gillespie,  Irvine
Erskine,   McAdam,  Hawthorn
Robertson,   Duncan,   Edmonstone,    Black
Anderson,  Nicholson,  Crombie,  MacDonald
Arch, Herbert, Charlesworth, Chapman

Hello all,

The Sarah, mentioned here who married Charles Haggan/Higgins. etc. was born as Sarah Brisland, 29/Jan/1864. Govan, Lanark, to parents William Brisland, and Matilda Smith.

Sarah, had at least six sisters including a set of twin sisters.

The Surname Brisland, has various spellings in this family, ie Brisland, Bresland, and Braisland, the parents were Irish.

Charles Haggan, was born in Ireland, to parents Charles Haggan, and Eliza Donnelly, again both parents Irish. Roman Catholics.

Torrence Haggan, living with his brother Charles Haggan, and Sarah. on the 1891. census provided by Monica, was born 8/Dec/1870. Milton, Glasgow, to parents Charles Haggan, and Eliza Donnelly.

The surname Haggan, will also have various spellings on records.

Regards,
Jonn.
