So 1841 John Pritchard is 1851 William B Pritchard ?
I noticed that too and assumed William b was not there that night or it was a miss write. have not found a birth for a John.
I have an address for Joseph Strong  a Tailor,in 1847 ,living  ( or could be work address?)at 29 black Lion st
from the UK poll books.

This may be a coincidence but...

Searching for Dorothy (without surname) b Newark abt 1807 in 1861 comes up with Dorothy Underwood wife of Walter living in Nottingham.
Marriage in Lambeth district Q1 1875 for a Walter Underwood and one of the two possible brides is Dorothy Strong.
So did Dorothy separate from Joseph Strong, go to live with Walter Underwood, then marry him after she was widowed?

Dorothy Strong , wid, father  John Beedham
Walter Underwood widower, commercial traveller  , father George
27 Mar 1875 St John Evangelist , Lambeth

Brilliant find,
Looks like we've solved part of the mystery - the "what happened to Dorothy?" part.

Now where did William Pritchard come from - not sure the not born in county in 1841 is too reliable.

As both Walter and Dorothy were previously married, was the 1875 marriage triggered by the death of his wife or by Joseph Strong?

In one of my earlier posts I found a Joseph Strong (tailor) with the Dearlove family in 1841 in Ship Street,Brighton.
Piece 1122 Book 3 Folio 9 Page 11
No status or relationships given, so only a guess he is a single man lodging with them.
He is born abt 1817 (doesn't look as if enumerator has rounded)

In 1851, there is a Joseph Strong born Brighton abt 1817 (tailor) in Holborn
Piece 1513 Folio 94 Page 4 . He has a wife Martha. I can't find a marriage between a Joseph Strong and a Martha between 1841 and 1851, so I suspect they aren't married and he may be Dorothy's husband.
In 1851 Dorothy says she's married, but Joseph isn't there and her occupation is a Lodging House keeper. This is often the occupation for a widow who needs to make some money to support a family and just takes in a lodger or two, rather than a large establishment. Looking at Google street map, Black lion street has been redeveloped so much, it's difficult to work out what type of house she would have lived in. They may have had business premises on the ground floor and an apartment over the shop. I think Joseph has permanently left her by 1851.

It's funny that Joseph was placed at 29 black Lion street in 1847 & she is at number 41 in the 1851 census and lived at number 32 with her husband William . 🙈🙈🙈 the plot thickens.
My next mission is to see if any of these buildings still exist!

I can't thank you enough for your efforts!👏👏👏👏👏👏
