Thanks for your advice... I ordered a birth certificate for Robert Jones on the weekend so hopefully that'll put me in the right track!

Jones is such a confusing name when doing family trees...

I know!!  Wait until you get to the censuses and find out who married who....all Williams/Jones/Owen/s marrying the same and with common first names too and all quarrymen, it's a nightmare lol.  Let us know how you get on!!
Williams, Owens, Pritchard, Povall, Banks, Brown.

Oooh I can only imagine... Robert married a Catherine Evans too - typical or what ha ha!
I will let you know. I'm just hoping the certificate is the right one when it arrives.

We're there any other siblings on the 1911 census

Another place you can look is school records the ones I found gave correct birth dates and you may find  addresses and date of leaving school which can indicate moving towns

He did have a brother called William who was born in 1905 in Llandudno. They were living at 24 Mulberry Street, Liverpool in 1911.
They left at some time as their Dad, William worked in the slate quarry as a foreman but I don't know when.
Will the school records be on ancestry or should I look elsewhere?

I don't have ancestry school records also give name of parent or guardian who enrolls the child .useful if dad is away
I found my ggfather enrolling his half-sister 20 years younger

Hiya,

Sorry that I've not posted in a while...The good news is that Robert Jones' birth certificate arrived and his Mother was listed as Ellen Williams. Robert was born on 31st August 1900 in Ellesmere Port and was christened in Ellesmere Port on 15th April 1901.
Today Robert Jones' marriage certificate arrived! Robert married Catherine Mary Evans (Born in 1906) who got married on 10th December 1932 in Portmadoc Registry Office. Robert's Dad, William Jones had a middle name of Griffith and worked in the quarry as a Slate Inspector. Robert's address at the time of marriage was recorded as Brayfield, Rhiw, Blaenau Festiniog so I am presuming that this was also his Dad, William's address too.
I was hoping to now find his brother, William's birth certificate and William Griffith Jones and Ellen Williams marriage certificate. I've had a look on Free BMD this evening but not had much luck. Has anyone got any suggestions for me?

three possible marriages for you after noting the number of years married from the 1911 census, it was easier to search for Ellen Williams as the main and noted William as the spouse.

Liverpool Oct Nov Dec 1899 Lancashire Vol 8b Page 321
