Hi Dolly

I looked at the Warenford original records yesterday.  It’s unfortunate that the minister did not start giving mother’s name or father’s occupation until1815.

I am fairly certain that there are at least two men called James Young having children baptised during the period of your interest.

The first three relevant entries are:
27 June 1799 Mary daughter to James Young of Goldenshill
11 Aug. 1800 James son to James Young of Beadnell
1 March 1801 James son to James Young of Goldenshill.

I doubt if one man moved from Goldens Hill to Beadnell and back again in such a short time.

After that ‘James’ is all over the place –

3 July 1802 William son to James Young of Anstead
27 Oct. 1803 Mary Ann daughter  to James Young of Elford
13 Oct. 1805 James son to James Young of Elford
29 Apr. 1806 Anne daughter of James Young of High Hill
1808 - I forgot to check on George  :-[

I suspect that it would be difficult/impossible to decide which children were siblings (apart from the two from Goldens Hill and the two from Elford).  Also hard to know which one married Eleanor Brown.

I know it’s a couple of years out but should not be ignored –

William son to Alexander Young of Adderstone – 24th August 1800

Probably even more confused now  ;D

Christine

my!   Christine you have been busy, and i thank you for that.
as you stated it's a matter of pick and choose here!
I have only just gone back to this family, as I gave up the first time   Maybe third times lucky !

Much appreciate your time spent on this Christine, It's a pity as the William Young and his wife  Jane Dunn were my Gt Gt Grandparents, Jane Dunn is worse for tracking down anything about her, so I'm not going to get anywhere at all with her line.
                     thanks again , Dolly

I agree there are at least two James Young having children in the same area in the same time frame

Newcastle Library has transcriptions of numerous Parish registers from the original registers, sometimes gives more info than the Bishops transcripts.

A record with useful additional info, the burial of infant James Young at Bamburgh :

Dec 6 1802 Bamburgh. James, son of James Young of Goldens Hill, Day Labourer, by his wife Mary, died Dec 4, aged 1 year 9 months.

A few additional records I noted to the ones Christine noted for children of “James Young” at Warensford Presby,

2 Jan 1791   Mark son of James Young, of Goldrick, Lowick Parish
1 Sep 1793   John, son of James Young, of Newhouses
31 Jul 1795   Thomas son of James Young of Newhouses
14 Jul 1808   George son of James Young of Newham Newhouses

A couple of baptisms at Belford Presbyterian :

16 Dec 1807   Robert, son of James Young of Newham, Parish of Bamburgh.
1 Jul 1810   Elizabeth, born 4 June, dau of James Young of Meuson, Parish of Bamburgh.

There is a Robert Young, born Newham 1807 in 1851 census, with a son William Brown Young, so I suspect he's a son of James Young and Eleanor Brown.

A couple of useful baptisms at North Sunderland Presbyterian :

16 Apr 1814      William, born 9 Apr, son of James and Mary' of Newham Newhouses.
10 Dec 1816   Joshua, born 11 Nov, 9th son of James Young, by his wife Mary.

So if James and his wife Mary named their 8th son William in 1814, the William born 1802 must have been the son of the other James.

The James who was buried Bamburgh, 6 Nov 1823, age 55, abode Newham Newhouses is probably the husband of Mary.

Alan, thanks for chipping in on this, it's becoming a little clearer on this Young lot!  That is unless I get proof of otherwise

( I go for James Young and Eleanor Brown being the parents of my William bn 1802.
James and Eleanor are still living in 1841 at Newham Bamburgh.

                 Thanks for your post,   Dolly
