Hello,
There was an inn on the south side of the High Street in Peebles in the 1850's called the Commercial Inn. I know there were a number of inns in the town at this time, but I wondering whether this hotel is still standing and which of the current hotels on the south side it is.
My gg grandfather was listed as an hostler there in the 1851 census. At the time, the innkeeper was listed as Thomas Wallace.
Many thanks for all your help,
KESTON.
