Thanks all.

Off to dishes and bed.

The number of threads is because of the six months ?? or more of detective work, attacking each little piece of the puzzle, as it came to life. Having trouble with keeping up with them all myself.

But three new threads on the topic were all started today.  ::)

... all about himself Edward is in
a Foreign & English fancy ware-
house in Lawrence Lane Cheap-
side it is an immense place &
this gives him 5/(*) a week to begin
with which is very vile as boys
generally have to give a twelve-

     * = 5 shillings

Hello Bookbox

Very nice work, half a page less for me to ponder over. I just posted this as an example of X writing and thought while at it, see if you all agreed with Edward being the name. My experience before was with WWI & WWII letters in the main, so these very old ones are a new challenge to me.

Just had an email from my new contact. They personally know the daughter of the benefactor, and hope to visit them in early June. With your kind input, plus possible access to better scans off the originals, the 56 pages become less daunting by the hour.

Regards,
